Raynald Aeschlimann,

President and CEO of OMEGA

SEAMASTER 300

First created by OMEGA in 1957, the Seamaster 300 represents one of the most famous watches in underwater history. Admired by generations of divers, it has remained an iconic timepiece for more than 60 years. In 2021, the latest collection of models will arrive. Not only will they be thinner than previous versions thanks to the new sapphire glass, but they will include plenty of vintage tributes and a brand new Master Chronometer upgrade.

A Pioneering Story

The original Seamaster 300 arrived in a time of great change throughout the world. After World War II ended in 1945, society began to embrace a new and exciting era of exploration, travel and adventure. Science and industry were rapidly progressing too, and OMEGA was determined to respond with a series of watches dedicated entirely to professionals. In 1957, the “Professional Trilogy” collection was therefore born, including the Speedmaster, the Railmaster and the Seamaster 300.

As part of that family, the Seamaster 300 was launched as OMEGA’s first-ever professional divers’ watch. The design was notable for its black dial, luminous indexes and large hands, which made it very simple-to-use and easy-to-read in a variety of conditions.

On top of that, it was an innovative marvel. As well as offering an ingenious high-pressure water-proofing system, the watch also introduced OMEGA’s first diving bezel, built with a special safety feature to prevent accidental turning during dives.

The Seamaster 300 instantly appealed to experienced divers, delivering the best precision and reliability for life under water. As time went on, the watch’s reputation grew, and it later became a popular choice for recreational divers, scientists and militaries at sea.

 Overall design

The new collection follows the spirit of those original models. Each of the 41 mm timepieces will be delivered in classic stainless steel, with thinner bezels crafted from an oxalic, anodised-treated aluminium for increased hardness.

Strap and Bracelet

The bracelets are also in stainless steel and now come with an improved fit and finishing. Their shape has been ergonomically adjusted with streamlined fittings and a thinner, polished-brushed clasp. On the leather straps, a new buckle has also been included.

Sandwich Dial

Perhaps the most noticeable changes can be found on the new dials. For this, OMEGA has utilised a sandwich concept, including a base layer with Super-LumiNova and a second plate over the top with cuttings for the recessed hour markers and numerals. In a nod to history, these numerals are in the vintage Arabic open style, which appeared on early Seamaster 300 models in the 1960s.

Clean Dial and Lollipop Hand

OMEGA has also reintroduced the popular lollipop central seconds hand for the stainless steel models, with its tip now filled with Super-LumiNova. The hand works beautifully with the cleaner dial, which features only the OMEGA logo and Seamaster 300 name. There are no longer any references to the movement (these have instead been moved to the caseback).

Slimmer Style

Those with a keen eye may also notice that the slim inner frame has given the dial a larger display, with an opening of 30.4 mm, as opposed to the previous 29.5 mm. Furthermore, OMEGA has achieved a slightly slimmer Seamaster 300 thanks to a new domed sapphire crystal on the face of the watch. This thinner look is enhanced by the addition of a new conical crown at the side of the case.

Master Chronometer Certified

Finally, the caseback includes a wave-edged design, as well as sapphire crystal that offers a view of the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8912. The movement and full watch have been certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) at the industry’s highest standards of precision, performance and magnetic resistance.

The Bronze Gold Model

In a truly pioneering moment, this year’s new Seamaster 300 collection will also include a 41 mm model crafted from OMEGA’s exclusive Bronze Gold. The watch represents the very first OMEGA to be created in this patent-pending alloy.

Bronze has a long and traditional history with ocean exploration, having been used in nautical applications such as boat propellers and diving helmets. There is also a historical reference to copper being blended with gold or silver to create an alloy once known as Corinthian Bronze. While details of its exact composition are limited, various ancient Greek texts reinforce the reputation of Corinthian Bronze as a highly prized metal for the creation of statues, vases, vessels and more. Echoing its own Greek inspired name, OMEGA has revived this classical art today in its own unique way !

Bronze Gold was specifically developed to produce a pleasing aesthetic and hue, while also offering a bronze alloy that could be worn with direct contact on the skin, thanks to its distinctive composition.

Used for the entire case and buckle, the one-of-a-kind alloy is enriched with noble elements such as 37.5% gold, hallmarked as 9K, as well as palladium and silver, to create a unique colour which sits exactly between the brand’s 18K Moonshine™ gold and 18K Sedna™ gold.

As well as featuring a soft pink hue, during wear it offers incomparable corrosion resistance without verdigris-oxidation, and will therefore age slowly and retain its natural and beautiful patina over a longer period of time. For fans of bronze watches and innovative materials, this is great news !

To complement the impressive Bronze Gold, the bezel ring of this timepiece has been created in brown ceramic with a diving scale in vintage Super-LumiNova. Thanks to the fact that the dial is an internal component, OMEGA took the opportunity to use a common bronze alloy (CuSn8) in order to offer a unique dark brown colour with a patina that was created after a special aging process had taken place. The contrast with the exclusive Bronze Gold is therefore particularly captivating !

The model comes with a full 5-year warranty and is powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8912.

CONSTELLATION SMALL SECONDS

Born in 1952, the Constellation has become OMEGA’s enduring symbol of beauty and precision. The iconic look we know today, with the distinguishing claws and half moon facets, first arrived in 1982, and has since become one of the world’s most recognised watch designs. This year, OMEGA is adding a new range of Small Seconds models to the collection, enhanced with extra diamonds and a number of unique details.

Overall Design

The watches, with a new 34 mm size, will be offered in a choice of 18K Sedna™ gold, stainless steel, or a combination of both. On top of each case, the bezels will feature engraved Roman Numerals, or a circle of 38 full-cut diamonds.

5th generation style

In keeping with the 5th generation Constellation makeover that was launched in 2018, all of the watch’s brushed components are complemented by polished bevelling along the casebody and bracelet, while a polished crown also adds to the slimline look. For the most essential Constellation feature, the famous claws are polished and bevelled, and integrated smoothly around the sides of the case.

Symmetrical Dial

Most noticeably, a special symmetry has been given to these new Small Seconds watches. Along with a round date window at 6H, OMEGA has used incremental diamonds for the hour markers, which have been placed in 18K gold holders, and arranged by size around the dial.

Furthermore, OMEGA has added rings for the Small Seconds subnickdial, as well as the Central Minute Track. On some models, these rings are presented in 18K Sedna™ gold with the addition of delicate single-cut diamonds.

Captivating Colours

Taking the Constellation in a vibrant new direction, each of these models is presented with a dial of exquisite colour. The first models to be revealed feature dials in sun-brushed burgundy, which exude a sense of luxurious heritage as well as sophistication.  Other dials to follow in the collection will include mother-of-pearl, sun-brushed peacock blue or light chestnut.

Strap and Bracelets

While some of these Small Seconds timepieces will be set on colourful leather straps to match the dials, the full metal versions will include the Constellation’s legendary mono-rang bracelets. Featuring brushed links with polished central bars, the bracelets also have a butterfly clasp and easy comfort adjustment.

Master Chronometer Certified

On the inside, the watches are driven by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8802 / 8803, offering the Swiss industry’s highest certified standard of precision, performance and magnetic resistance. Each timepiece also comes with OMEGA’s full 5-year warranty.

DE VILLE TRÉSOR POWER RESERVE

The beautifully slim De Ville Trésor is welcoming its next selection of gents’ models in 2021. The distinguished line is OMEGA’s ultimate choice for simplicity and refinement, while offering an exceptional level of precision certified at the Master Chronometer standard. This year, the collection will present a variety of models with a new subdial display and a diverse range of colours and materials. For those who love the classics, these are timepieces that must be seen.

History

OMEGA’s first use of the “Trésor” name appeared in 1949. At that time, it referred to the “treasure” found inside the watch – the legendary 30 mm calibre. The movement itself became synonymous with precision, as well as simple, logical design.  It also enabled OMEGA to give the original Trésor a beautifully thin, golden case. Fast-forward to today and the Trésor name lives on as part of the elegant De Ville collection. Retaining its legacy for slim design, it is also enhanced by one of OMEGA’s most advanced modern calibres.

Overall Design

The full Trésor collection will include 40 mm watches in a range of materials, including those in stainless steel. For now, the first models to be revealed feature polished cases and bezels in either 18K yellow gold or 18K Sedna™ gold. The cases are presented on leather straps with polished buckles, while sapphire crystal is used on both sides of the timepiece.

Domed Dials

With a wide choice of styles on the way, the first 18K yellow gold model features a grey leather strap, and a domed crystal silvery dial with polished hands and applied domed indexes.

The 18K Sedna™ gold model is presented on a burgundy leather strap with a domed burgundy lacquered dial also including polished hands and applied domed indexes.

Subdial Display

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this updated design is the addition of new subdials. On all watches, this includes a Small Seconds display at 6H, while some models also feature a Power Reserve display at 12H. In this instance, the unique positioning of the two subdials means that the OMEGA logo has been transferred to 3H.

Manual Movement

Continuing the Trésor’s legacy of mechanical excellence, each model comes with a full 5-year warranty and is driven by a manual-winding OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre. The movements and full watches have been certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) at the industry’s highest standards of precision, performance and magnetic resistance.

SEAMASTER AQUA TERRA

Time is precious on OMEGA’s latest Aqua Terra timepieces, which feature hour markers in diamonds or rubies. The 2021 models are all about elegance, with fabulous new wave-embossed dials and luxurious bezels. Perfect for women who like to be dazzled on the hour, every hour.

Overall Design

The new 34 mm models highlighted here, are in stainless steel and 18K Sedna™ gold and feature a symmetrical polished-brushed case body, a polished bezel set with diamonds, central hour/minute and seconds hands in diamond-polished 18K Sedna™ gold – and a date window at 6H.

Luxurious dials

With these exquisite watches, checking the time is a feast for the eyes. The latest models include beautiful wave-embossed dials, which evoke the gentle rippling surface of the ocean. To add softness and warmth, each one is also offered in a unique new colour. This includes a nude dial encircled with 11 marquise-cut diamond hour markers, or a pale pink dial with 11 marquise-cut ruby hour-markers.

Shimmer or shine

In addition to dials that dazzle, OMEGA is offering luxurious new ways for Aqua Terra fans to fix their watch to the wrist. There is an integrated bracelet in stainless steel and 18K Sedna™ gold, with polished central links, brushed external links and a butterfly clasp – or shimmering leather straps in red or nude.

Not just a pretty face

On the 2021 editions, the screw-in caseback is polished-brushed with a wave-edged design, engraved with “AQUA TERRA” and the watch’s water resistance. The flat sapphire crystal on the caseback allows a clear view of OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8800, certified at the industry’s highest level by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). As always, OMEGA’s worldwide 5-year warranty applies to all of the new Aqua Terra timepieces.

SEAMASTER DIVER 300M BLACK BLACK

In 2021, OMEGA’s famous diving watch embraces the dark side, with a new model in the blackest black. On this exciting new addition to the Diver 300M collection first released in 1993, OMEGA has taken advantage of ceramic’s versatility, to create a watch in contrasting shades from a single colour. As always, OMEGA has stayed true to the 300M’s original design and ensures the watch meets all required dive watch functions. As well as being easy on the eye, the Seamaster Diver 300M Black Black is easy to read – even in the dark.
 Overall Design

To create a true sense of deepness, and to signify the darkest corners of the ocean, the 43.5 mm polished-brushed case in black ceramic [ZrO2] is fixed to the wrist by an integrated black rubber strap with a buckle in the same material as the case. To ensure every part of the watch blends in beautifully, OMEGA’s watchmakers also created black ceramic versions of the crown and helium escape valve.

Light from the darkness

Although the new Black Black is the colour of night, its dial is easy-to-read at all hours. To ensure visibility without spoiling the Diver’s overall aesthetic, OMEGA has introduced anthracite Super-LumiNova to the diving scale, the black PVD indexes and skeleton hands, and dot at 12H. Although these essential markers all glow in different colours in the dark, the anthracite turns them dark-grey in daylight.

A Laser-Ablated Name

For the first time, OMEGA has laser-ablated almost every detail on the black ceramic [ZrO2] dial. From the iconic waves to the minute track, wording and even the OMEGA symbol, the details have been crafted in positive relief from just one single piece. The unique construction method delivers a superb contrasting effect, while giving the watch a very distinctive, uniform and sculptural look. The same positive relief style can be found on the diving scale of the unidirectional bezel.

The Caseback

Adding some light to the darkness is a window with a clear view of the movement. The caseback, which is of course in polished-brushed black ceramic, has a sapphire crystal glass. Keeping everything oriented is OMEGA’s patented “NAIAD LOCK” with wave-edged design, which has been metallised with “NAIAD LOCK” and “DIVER 300M”, “300 m / 1000 ft”.

The Movement

Through the caseback glass, proud wearers of the watch can view the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806, certified at the industry’s highest standards of precision, performance and magnetic resistance by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). OMEGA’s worldwide 5-year warranty is further proof of the brand’s confidence in the stunning new Seamaster Diver 300M Black Black.

SPEEDMASTER MOONWATCH VELCRO® STRAPS

To celebrate the shared history of the global watchmaker and the famous American space agency, OMEGA is honouring its unrivalled legacy of space exploration with a range of new Velcro® straps with astronaut-friendly fixtures and bold branding. Nicknamed the “meatball”, NASA’s famous planet-shaped insignia in red, white and blue, released in 1959, stylishly captures the space-age optimism of the mid-20th century.

There are three 20 mm straps in all – and to show them at their best, we’ve fixed them to a timepiece that couldn’t be more appropriate – OMEGA’s Master Chronometer certified Moonwatch.

Bracelets with a space suit? Never!

An OMEGA Speedmaster is an essential piece of space kit. That said, an astronaut would never opt to wear a metal bracelet during an extravehicular activity (EVA) or spacewalk. Space suits add bulk and weight and a Velcro® strap is the only fixture versatile enough to adjust on the go and expand and contract with the conditions. For this reason, our new designs are a fitting tribute in every sense.

The significance of the three colours.

OMEGA’s Velcro® straps are available in three colours: black, white and silver.

Black represents the darkness of space and the actual straps worn on the lunar surface. The shade is also a perfect match for the Moonwatch dial. It’s also worth noting that black is classic – and cool.

White is a nod to the Apollo-era spacesuits and the evocative title of OMEGA’s historic mission to create the perfect space watch – the Alaska Project.

Silver pays tribute to the shiny suits worn on the pre-Apollo missions: Gemini and Mercury. It is also a suitable bracelet replacement for wearers who like the versatility of Velcro® and the look of metal.

Space travel is optional

With their bold embroidered logos and space-age aesthetics, OMEGA’s Velcro® straps are well suited to the Moonwatch, but you can pair them with any watch – and you don’t have to be an astronaut to benefit from their adjustability. They make excellent straps for sport and work, as they are comfortable, easy to adjust and can be fine-tuned to fit the wrist when it swells in high temperatures or during exercise.

SPEEDMASTER MOONWATCH VELCRO® STRAPS

As launched earlier this year, the Speedmaster Moonwatch Master Chronometer is a superb continuation of the Moonwatch legacy. Not only is it updated with the best of modern precision, but it also features some of the most iconic 4th generation details, which were familiar to NASA astronauts who ventured into space.

With OMEGA’s new Speedmaster Moonwatch Velcro® Straps, it’s possible to add even more exploration heritage to this renowned design. The Moonwatch Master Chronometer in stainless steel with hesalite glass takes on the spirit and style of the true Speedmaster chronographs worn during NASA’s most legendary missions – including all of those to the lunar surface.

As well as featuring the famous “dot over 90” on the anodised aluminium bezel ring, the caseback includes an embossed Seahorse medallion with the inspiring inscriptions, “FLIGHT-QUALIFIED BY NASA IN 1965 FOR ALL MANNED SPACE MISSIONS” and “THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON.”
