For the 7th time in sporting history, OMEGA is ready to fulfil its role as Official Timekeeper of the Youth Olympic Games. A record 1,900 young athletes have arrived at Gangwon 2024 to compete in 81 winter events across 7 sports, and the Swiss watchmaker will be there to time every second.
This year marks the 4th edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games and is the first to be held in Asia. The elite competition is a perfect stage for the stars of tomorrow to compete together and set their careers on the path to victory. The occasion also includes a series of educational activities, workshops, and team-building exercises. An ideal environment to support future growth.
OMEGA is already familiar with many of the venues at Gangwon 2024, as they were also used for the Olympic Winter Games Pyeongchang 2018 – where OMEGA was also entrusted as Official Timekeeper.
Continuing a legacy of innovation and precision, the brand is bringing its most advanced technology to Gangwon. This includes the reliable Scan’O’Vision MYRIA photofinish camera, which can take 10,000 digital images per second on the finish line of races, along with a full installation of vital equipment such as scoreboards, starting gates, electronic starting pistols, photoelectric cells and much more.
Gangwon 2024 marks the latest milestone in OMEGA’s sporting journey. Since 1932, the brand has been the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games on 30 occasions, and will continue in the position until at least 2032, marking a full 100 years. Additionally, OMEGA has served in the same role at all six of the previous Youth Olympic Games, which began in Singapore in 2010.
